The Greater China IP Updates ¡V February 2026 By Lyndon ¡@ China’s Patent-Intensive Industries Account for Rising Share of GDP China’s patent-intensive industries reported an added value of 18.04 trillion yuan (2.58 trillion US dollars) in 2024, accounting for 13.38 percent of gross domestic product (GDP), which was up 0.34 percentage points from the previous year.
China Revokes Four Chinese Patent Firms’ Licenses On January 4, 2026, China’s National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) announced it had revoked 4 Chinese patent firms’ licenses for filing irregular patent applications using fabricated patent applicants based on stolen personal data. The firms had purchased stolen personal data which had been purchased by a middle man who had used the personal information of enterprises and citizens to register accounts in the CNIPA’s patent business processing system for resale and profit. It is believed that the firms found guilty were seeking government subsidies for filing these irregular patent applications.
