The Greater China IP Updates ¡V April 2025 By Lyndon ¡@ China’s Fast Track Patent Service Speeds up Innovation Wuhan’s MEMSonics Technologies Co.Ltd. recently benefitted from patent navigation services and a fast protection green channel to obtain patent authorization for its core technology more than a year ahead of schedule, achieving a breakthrough in mass production in the field. The company independently developed core technology for radio frequency filters and after receiving patent protection it can now begin the mass-production of their product. The Wuhan Intellectual Property Protection Center set up the green channel patent clearance process last year and can significantly shorten the review period, saving more than a year on average and reducing the review period by over 50%. It is a service whereby patents are pre-examined by local intellectual property protection centers for patent applications that ask for an expedited review before formal submission to the National Intellectual Property Administration. When patents are pre-examined by these local centers, the National Intellectual Property Administration will prioritize their review, thereby shortening the overall processing time. The process for obtaining invention patents typically takes 2 to 3 years without a fast-track option. Since June 2019, the Wuhan Intellectual Property Protection Center has established two major rapid pre-examination channels: one for the optoelectronic information field and another for high-end equipment manufacturing.
In China, High-Value Invention Patents Increase China’s National Development and Reform Commission recently issued a report stating that the number of high-value invention patents per 10,000 people had reached 14 in 2025, exceeding the goal of 12 high-value patents expected for this year.
